Farsi is a very funny language. Not because it is not hard to learn, but because the spoken form (colloquial) is somehow different to the written form. By that I mean you may learn how to read and write the language, but when you mix with Farsi speaking people you might think they are speaking something else.
Why I am saying this is because I think you'd probably ought to learn the language as it is being colloquially spoken, then find out what the intricacies of the language are.
By the way I have no background in teaching at all. In fact my training is very technical , and nowadays I am even moving ever so slowly away from that as well into something else. Without disclosing too much about myself. Nevertheless, love of my mother tongue and my mother land has allowed me to feel some how confident in this area.
Farsi alphabet looks exactly like Arabic alphabet (just like the European languages that have almost the same alphabet). However, Farsi has 4 extra letters than Arabic. Why? Because they are different languages. Now, Farsi alphabet (without going into too much detail on how they sound) are: A; B; P; T; C; J; CH; H; KH; D; Z; R; Z; ZH; S; SH; S; Z; T; Z; A; GH; F; GH; K; G; L; M; N; V; H; Y.
I hear you saying: how many T's; Z's; S's?! You can stop wondering now!! The reason is that they are all written differently, and are all due to the fact that Farsi has evolved over thousands of years, and influenced from many other languages, like, Arabic; Turkish; Aramic; etc etc. Did you know that Farsi is the oldest surviving language of the world (written and spoken)? But you are lucky, because you'll learn this language using Latin alphabet, without too much of its intricacies.
Any questions so far?
PS- Who won the Bledisloe cup this year? mmmm, let me think. Any ideas?
