For once and for all I would like to make this matter clear! Iran is a nation built on Persian nationalism, under this nationalism, minorities such as Turks, Kurds, Balochistanis, are not fairly represented! The atributes of minorities are not recognized and historical figures which were not Persian have been modified to be Persian........Nadir Shah Afshar, Omar Khayam, Rumi, Khagani, and the list goes on..... By stating that these figures were "Iranian" in a nation which is based on all that is "Persian", there is no difference between sayin Iranian and Persian. The Turks of Iran..... Qashqai, Azeri, Turkmen, Ghazvini, Halaj, all form a special case in that they constitute 30% of the Iranian population..........30% of the people of Iran are not represented, are denyed their past, are treated as second class citizens in a nation which they have essentially built historically! The issue is far greater than just the case of a free Azerbaijan, the case is one for a free TURKESTAN carved out of Iranian territory if the needs of the Turks of Iran are not met. Every nationality has a right to its own nation, including those kept captive by opressive regimes and peoples! The fact that many here keep mentioning Turkey is completely ignorant as Turkey has nothing to do with the Turks of Iran. There are 7 Turkic nations..... perhaps we should refer to Iranians as Pakistanis or Indians since those nations are Aryan as well. By the very nature of the comments on this page Persians are showing that they are against the Turks, that they do not consider them equal, this same hostility is expressed by the Iranian government. By supporting Armenia, a Christian nation against Azerbaijan, the only other Shia nation, the regime of Iran has shown that it would rather destroy a nation which is made up of a people which constitute 25% of Iran rather than protect them! This is a clear sign of the hostility which Iran holds towards the Turks........ignorant comments about the ethnicity of Iranian politicians, or comments about Turkey, jokes, and the such are completely useless.......they say nothing about the issue but only display the ignorance of the author! Those who swear that Persians are not hostlie towards Turks are welcome to read the comments on this page as evidence that they are, read info on other sites, the jokes, talk in chatrooms and the net is full of Persian chavinism! The issue is a serious one! We deserve the same dignity and respect as do all peoples! We are not saying we are better, we are saying we deserve to be treated as equals! Iran is a system based on fear and hate! The government and the people feel that by giving us equal rights we will outnumber them and gain positions of power in the nation........... if we cannot be treated as equals then give us our freedom! The issue is not one of racial origins, ethnicity, nor who was first where, it is an issue of human dignity and the right to exist as any other people! I support the struggle of the Kurds, the Hazaras, and all other opressed peoples! I suggest that those of you here who have nothing better to do than talk about "Turkey" and say stupid jokes just shut up because you are wasting space which could be filled with intelligent comments! The fact is that Persians barely make up 50% of Iran if not less...... stop being paranoid and aknowledge this! If we are all Iranians we all need to have equal rights, not become "Persian" in order to be treated as equals............The problem is a complicated one and if it cannot be solved then there is no choice but independence!
